Abstract
AISI-321 stainless steel plates of thickness 3mm are joined by friction stir welding (FSW) using Tungsten Lanthanum tool with varying welding parameters like tool rotation speed (rpm), tool tilt angle (deg), welding speed (mm/min) and load (KN). All welded samples are observed by optical microscopy followed by their tensile tests. Mechanical strength of the base material with comparable elongation is achieved in FSW sample of 500 rpm rotation speed and 45 mm/min welding speed. (C) 2017 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
