Series-Connected Igbts Using Voltage Self-Balanced Technique

This paper addresses a voltage self-balanced technique for balancing the voltages of series connected IGBTs. This technique can automatically adjust the IGBT's collector emitter voltage during switching transients without the necessity of considering the gate characteristic of IGBTs. Accordingly, this paper illustrates the structure of the IGBT controller and discusses the control principle and controlling process in detail. Experiments have been conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed technique.
