摘要

•Stone-on-stone contact (SOSC) of permeable friction course (PFC) mixtures was analyzed.•Image analyses proved irregular distributions of SOSC in compacted PFC mixtures.•Verification of both SOSC and Cantabro loss was recommended for improving the PFC mixture design.•Compaction control was recommended for PFC mixtures to ensure fully developed SOSC.
