摘要

•The growth mode, short and long range order of Pt on Cu(111) was investigated.•The nucleation of A and B terminated Pt domains at early stages of growth was found.•The nucleation of mutually rotated 3D islands at higher coverages was observed.•The increase of atomic distances with the coverage till Pt bulk values was found.•The formation of the intermixing layer at the Pt/Cu interface was confirmed.
