Histological Findings Of Cerebral Infarction Treated With Recombinant Tissue Plasminogen Activator (Rt-Pa): Two Autopsy Cases Died Of Non-Neurologic Complications Within A Month After Rt-Pa Treatment

Background: Intravenous recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA) is an established therapy for acute ischemic stroke, however histological changes in subacute phase after the treatment is unknown. We experienced two autopsy cases of cerebral infarction treated with rt-PA. In both cases, the patients died of non-neurological complications within a month after rt-PA treatment, demonstrating important neuropathological findings that reflect natural course of infarcts after the treatment.
