Abstract
•Rice was efficiently digest by MIC allowing to determine Br and I by ICP-MS.•Bromine and iodine were absorbed using diluted solution (50 mmol L−1 NH4OH).•A high mass of rice (1000 mg) was efficiently digested by MIC.•The concentration of Br was significantly higher than I in the evaluated samples.•Br and I were determined in a variety of rice from different countries.
