Optical wireless communication with monolithic avalanche photodiode receivers

Receivers in 0.35 gm BiCMOS with highly efficient i ntegrated 2 00 gm an d 40 0 gm diameter avalanche pho todiodes w ill b e i ntroduced. R esults o f optical wireless communication up t o 1 2 m at 2 Gbit/s and 20 m at 1 Gbit/s in presence of 2000 lux lighting are presented. Possibilities of further improvement will be discussed.
