Internal force of a tunnel lining induced by seismic Rayleigh wave

•Closed form solutions to internal forces (axial force or thrust, bending moment, shear force) for shallow tunnel linings due to propagation of Rayleigh wave are derived.•Ground-structure interaction effects as well as temporal and spatial variations of seismic responses are taken into account simultaneously.
