摘要

•Carbonate base screening with potassium ferricyanide only led to natural xanthones.•Neither counter cation or temperature influence the obtained 2.4/1 ratio.•The use of stronger bases lead to hydroxylated analogs derived from natural compounds.•DDQ allows the isolation of 3,12- and 1,12-oxy-guttiferone A, non-natural forms of xanthonic PPAPs.
