Optical fabrication of large area photonic microstructures by spliced lens

•We fabricate large area photonic microstructures in photorefractive crystal.•We get large area multiple beams interference by a spliced lens.•The setups are compact and stable without complex alignment devices.•Other more complex large area microstructures can be fabricated with this method.
