Abstract
The photon detection efficiency (PDE) is the basic characteristic of a silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) which needs to be precisely monitored in a running fabrication process. For this purpose a reliable and cost-effective setup with a short cycling time is presented. This setup features a direct determination of the PDE via a histogram of the pulse heights, a calibration of the light source and the possibility to compare different SiPM detectors at one measurement. It is comparably easy to build up with standard equipment. The PDE measurement results of different SiPM technologies and package variants are presented and discussed.
