Design And Measurement Of A Differential Fed Tapered Slot Uwb Antenna

A compact tapered slot antenna fed by differential microstrip lines for ultra wideband has been proposed. The antenna is composed by an elliptical tapered slot ended by a triangular open stub. A differential pair of two microstrip lines of 50 is used to feed the antenna, which makes it convenient to connect with differential RF front end circuits. To check the perfounance of the differential antenna, an ultra-wideband BALUN has been implemented to transit from 100 differential pair to 50 microstrip line. Both S parameters and radiation patterns of the antenna are measured with the BALUN connected, and the results show that the antenna is suitable for compact differential circuits and systems.
