Structure and photoluminescence properties of Ca 2 GdZr 2 Al 3 O 12 :RE 3+ (RE 3+ = Eu, Sm, Pr, Dy, Tb) phosphors

Abstract
Novel RE 3+ (RE = Eu, Sm, Pr, Dy, Tb) doped garnet-type Ca 2 GdZr 2 Al 3 O 12 phosphors with various emission colors have been prepared by solid state reaction method. The detailed crystal structure was characterized by X-ray diffraction and refined with Rietveld refinements by GSAS program. Photoluminescence properties were investigated and discussed with the aid of luminescence spectra, decay curve and chromaticity. The results showed that red, orange-red, warm white and green emission colors could be obtained from single Eu, Sm, Pr/Dy or Tb doped Ca 2 GdZr 2 Al 3 O 12 , respectively.
