Evaluation of calcium oxide in Rhodamine 6G photodegradation

Abstract
•CaOH2 calcined at different temperatures was tested in Rh6G photodegradation.•Ca(OH)2 was the active phase in the photodegradation of Rh6G instead of CaO.•The calcined sample at 700°C exhibited the best photocatalytic results.•A 50% photocatalytic efficiency was achieved within 250min.•A dye sensitization mechanism was proposed.
