A strong and compressible three dimensional graphene/polyurushiol composite for efficient water cleanup

•A simple method has been developed for three-dimensional graphene/urushiol composite.•The functionalization of graphene by urushiol has led to efficiently improved mechanical performances.•The prepared graphene/urushiol composite showed remarkable adsorbance capacity for oils and organic solvents.•The composite can be used for over 100 times without clear degeneration.
