Stereo-vision three-dimensional reconstruction of curvilinear structures imaged with a TEM

•An algorithm for 3-D reconstruction of curvilinear structures is proposed that requires far fewer TEM images and tilt angles than are normally used in standard tomographic techniques.•Thanks to its robust line detection and triangulation algorithms, the tilt range between the images can be lowered to a few degrees.•Fidelity of the algorithm was evaluated through reconstruction of a model curvilinear object from its simulated projections.
