But the best one is not fixed for different objects. Though there are many methods to pick out one or two elastic properties satisfied with requirement of identification in different study area, it is continued to be under research how to measure their sensitivity to lithology and fluid. A statistical optimization method for selecting the more sensitive elastic property is presented here. It is a fast solution for finding the more sensitive parameter in prediction problem, and is easy to use in daily seismic interpretation. As an example, 11 elastic properties used frequently in exploration are analyzed in a gas field. The best one for lithology discrimination and the best one for gas sand identification are successfully used to predict the distribution of gas sand.
