Abstract
Summary The aim of the present study is to highlight the anomalous values of the natural radioactivity of the Menilites formation, Eastern Carpathians (Romania), Tarcau Nappe. In this area are known several landslide-prone areas, as well as methane gas seepages. Their presence and activity are a result of the past tectonic activity in the region, as well as the present-day seismic activity. The measurements included the determination of 40K, 238U, 232Th concentrations and of natural gamma dose rate been performed in situ, in optimum conditions, as well high-resolution measurements of gamma spectrometry measurements in the laboratory.
