The effect of adsorbed liquid and material density on saltation threshold: Insight from laboratory and wind tunnel experiments

•Low density wind tunnel materials contain more water than high density materials.•Varying walnut shell water content (1.7–7.2%) does not change threshold wind speed.•Methane moisture could substantially change threshold wind speed for sand on Titan.
