Simultaneous Determination Of 73 Flavor Components In Cut Tobacco By Gas Chromatography-Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometry

A method for simultaneous determination of 73 flavor components in cut tobacco by gas chromatography. tandem mass spectrometry (GC. MS / MS) was developed. The samples were extracted with anhydrous ether, and the ether extracts were separated on a DB-5MS column (30 mx0.25 mm, 0.25 mu m). The interference of complex matrix and peak overlapping of various flavor components were reduced by means of optimizing tandem mass spectrometry parameters. The extracts were analyzed by GC. MS / MS under multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode, and internal standard method was applied to quantify the 73 flavor components. The results showed that all the flavor components had good linearity in certain ranges with the correlation coefficients (r(2)) greater than 0.99. The recoveries of the 73 flavor components at low, middle and high levels ranged from 70.0% to 122.3% with the relative standard deviations (RSDs) of 1.6% - 20.4%. The developed method is easy, accurate and sensitive, and it can be applied to the determination of the 73 flavor components in cut tobacco.
