Abstract
While multidisciplinary knowledge with the humanities, art and literature, and social science plays a mediation role in the innovation process, and is a source of imagination for creativity, keeping the value of the humanities in mind when applying engineering technology in reality, there are few theoretical and empirical studies on multidisciplinary knowledge with the humanities, art and literature, and social science for engineering education. This study, especially for capstone course of engineering schools, aims to propose an indicator or index enabling the measurement of the degree of multidisciplinarity of team in capstone design course, as the nascent step toward theoretical or empirical studies for engineering colleges in need of multidisciplinary knowledge for them to solve their real capstone projects. To do this, based on the previous studies examined indicators of technological convergence, the multidisciplinary team index (MTI) in the capstone design course is defined as integration of variety, balance, and disparity of disciplines and then the method is proposed to measure the MTI, the degree of multidisciplinarity of capstone project team.
