Abstract
This study is aimed to compare the outcomes of life-style interventions on the anthropometric and body composition parameters in obese adult population. In this study, hundred and sixty-three obese participants, 108 female and 55 male adults with abdominal obesity were included. All participants had a body mass index over 30. During the duration of the weight loss program they were randomized in two groups (A u0026 B). Group A underwent the weight loss program which included dietary reduction approach. Group B, in parallel, underwent the weight program which included dietary reduction along with exercise. On the start and after studied intervals (three and twelve months) following parameters were recorded: body height (BH), body weight (BW), body mass index, waist-hip ratio (WHR), fat mass (FM), percentage of body fat (%BF), protein mass (PM), mineral mass (MM) and total body water (TBW). The principal component analysis was used to emphasize variation and bring out strong patterns in the dataset. Three months of life-style change program resulted with favourable effect on anthropometric parameters and body composition of both genders. Significant decreases in all monitored parameters were observed after both types of intervention with particular emphasis on changes of the body fat mass and body weight. Moreover, the measured parameters after 12 months participation in the weight loss programs showed a significant positive trend of losing body weight and especially body fat mass. BM and BF decrease was even more significant in the group that has had included exercising in the life style change.
