characteristics of gastric adenoCA between the two countries.Methods: This retrospective study was conducted in King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Thailand and Osaka Medical Center for Cancer and Cardiovascular Disease, Japan.Two physicians individually reviewed chart of patients who were diagnosed gastric adenoCA between 2010 and 2014.The exclusion criteria were 1) Age < 18 years and 2) Incomplete data.Baseline characteristics, clinical manifestations, H.pylori infection, tumor characteristics, treatments and mortality rate were examined.Results: A total of 418 Thai and 2200 Japanese patients were retrieved from the electronic database.Finally, 347 Thai and 416 (including random extraction) Japanese patients with gastric adenoCA were eligible for analysis.The mean follow-up periods were approximately 2 years.Thai patients with gastric adenoCA were significantly younger (59 ±13 vs. 68 ± 10 years old, p<0.0001).The majority of Thai patients were female (54.2% vs. 24.8%,p<0.0001).The rate of smoking and alcohol drinking were lower in Thai patients when compared with those in Japanese patients (28.2% vs. 65.2%,p<0.0001 and 35% vs. 70%, p<0.0001, respectively).The mortality rate at the conclusion of this study (July 2016) was significantly higher in Thai patients (75.2% vs. 7%, P=0.0001).In multivariate analysis, ethnicity, clinical UICC stage II-IV and no tumor resection were the significant prognostic factors after adjusting for age, gender, presence of alarm symptom, extension of lesion and histology.(Table) Conclusion: Unlike Japan, there is no national gastric surveillance program in Thailand.Therefore, we found that Thai patients with gastric adenoCA were younger, female predominate and lesser smoking/alcohol drinking when compared with those in Japan.As well as late presentation with advanced stage disease, nationality associate with poor prognosis of gastric adenoCA patients.Multivariate analysis by Cox-regression analysis of possible factors associated high mortality rate of gastric cancer in Thailand compared with that of in Japan
