Management Of Breast Cancer Associated With Pregnancy.

e12573 Background: Pregnancy-associated breast cancer (PABC) continues to be a challenging problem and may be increasing in frequency as women delay childbearing. As of yet, there is no absolute consensus on the management of PABC. Methods: In order to determine the ideal management for breast cancer during pregnancy, a comprehensive chart review of all women diagnosed with breast cancer during pregnancy from 1995-2010, at a large, urban hospital was performed. We reviewed the medical records of over 2000 patients and identified 15 individuals with PABC. A literature review and retrospective analysis of treatment modalities used for patients diagnosed with breast cancer during pregnancy or during the immediate postpartum period were performed. Trimester of pregnancy, stage at diagnosis, nodal status and age were compared amongst pregnant and non-pregnant patients. The study was approved by our institutional review board.
