(189) - Heart Transplantation in LVAD Patient Following Donor's Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation Support: Is It Safe?

The use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support has expanded globally over last decade, with gradual and significant increase in its use for heart transplantation (HT) recipients’ respiratory and circulatory support (1.2% of HT in 2009-2104 according to the updated ISHLT report). Yet the impact of ECMO supported donors on HT outcomes is unknown and raises concerns of sensitization, increased rejections rates and graft loss.
