Achievement of fluid balance prescription while on continuous renal replacement therapy

Fluid overload in critically ill patients with acute kidney injury requiring renal replacement therapy is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. We sought to assess achievement of prescribed 24 hour fluid balance while on continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and identify whether fluid bolus amount and time spent off CRRT were associated with a fluid removal shortfall.
