Abstract
For several decades in searching for an effective anticancer drug, natural extracts have gained a lot of attention as the promising chemotherapeutic treatments. Recently, peptides isolated from mushroom have demonstrated various pharmacological effects including toxicity to cancer cells [1 – 3]. Here in, anticancer activity of peptide extracted from Lentinus squarrosulus (Mont), a Thai edible mushroom against human lung cancer cells was firstly revealed. Briefly, fresh fruiting bodies of L. squarrosulus were homogenized in sterile deionized water. The water soluble filtrate were collected and added with 40 – 80% (NH4)2SO4 to precipitate the peptide pellets. Partial purification of peptide extracts were preceded through DEAE-Cellulose anion-exchange chromatography with gradient concentration (0 – 0.5 M) of NaCl eluting buffer.
