Long term carbon and nutrient dynamics within two small radiata pine catchments

•Change from eucalyptus to radiata pine led to redistribution of carbon and nutrients but no net loss.•Result of harvesting and replanting radiata pine was removal of nutrients and lower productivity in second rotation.•Analysis of stand level water use efficiency indicates changes with age but no differences between species.
