摘要
We report on the theoretical and experimental study of an inverse wire grid polarizer effect in ultrathin metallic gratings, where the metal thickness is on the order of the skin depth of the metal. This phenomenon exhibits that TM polarized waves are reflected and TE polarized waves are transmitted. This anomalous effect depends mainly on the metal thickness and metal width. We systematically investigate and demonstrate the effect by simulation and experiments methods, a gradient metallic thickness (4nm to 30nm) film by introducing a shadow-mask fabrication approach. Our results can be used the development of ultra-thin nano-strip based thin planar metasurfaces with low loss.
