Synthesis of the structural evolution and associated gold mineralization of the Cadillac Fault, Abitibi, Canada

•Four events of deformation are recorded along the Cadillac Fault Zone.•The Cadillac Fault Zone is segmented according to varying structural style.•Segmentation of the fault possibly reflects influence of inherited structures.•A regional-scale model for evolution of the Cadillac Fault Zone is proposed.•Segmentation correlates with distribution of orogenic gold mineralization types.
