To suppress both the low-frequency oscillation and subsynchronous oscillation, the coordinated optimization strategy of the multi-channel PSS and TCSC Damping Controller is researched in this paper. Considering the oscillation modes to be suppressed as the objective modes, and the maximization of the damping ratio of the objective modes as the optimization objects, an optimization model is established and an improved plant growth simulation algorithm based on the cloud model theory, which is easy to initialize, and has the advantages of strong global optimization ability and the fast convergence rate, is employed to solve it. During the coordination optimization, a mode-tracking technique is adopted to focus the optimization objects on the objective modes. An eigenvalue analysis and the time-domain simulation verify that the low-frequency and subsynchronous oscillation can be damped effectively and simultaneously after the optimization of the multi-channel damping controller.
