Approximations of BEP for multiple impulse noise sources

In this work, we derive simple methods to f nd an approximate bit error probability (BEP) for the total interference from multiple impulse noise sources, in order to determine the impact from each individual source on the total system performance. Different methods for approximating the resulting BEP are proposed based on different levels of knowledge of the individual interference signals. First, the BEP, as a function of received SIR, is assumed to be known for each individual interference signal. Second, approximations are proposed that can be used if only the impulsiveness correction factors (ICFs) and powers of the individual interferers are known. The proposed methods are evaluated numerically, and shown to perform well in many different scenarios.
