Abstract
Endoscopic retrograde chlangiopancreatography (ERCP) with endoscopic biliary sphincterotomy (EBS) is a safe and effective treatment for individuals requiring urgent biliary drainage, but does incur certain adverse events (AE), including gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB). As a result, guidelines recommend cessation of anticoagulation (AC) prior to ERCP or delay until AC has completed. For individuals at high risk for thrombembolic (TE) events, this may not be feasible, thus prompting a search for alternative means for biliary drainage.
