摘要
As two 500kV high voltage direct current (HVDC) lines are planned to be installed in the Alberta transmission system in Canada, this work analyzes the potential low frequency oscillations in the system and designs damping controllers for the identified oscillation modes. By performing Prony analysis, oscillation modes in the power system are identified. Two oscillation modes are found in the system. A HVDC damping controller and PSS are designed to damp each oscillation mode respectively. The effectiveness of both damping controllers is tested under a set of three-phase faults. The potential interaction of these two modes is analyzed.
