Abstract
Approximately 10% of the population reports penicillin (PCN) allergy; however, when evaluated further with penicillin skin testing(ST) and oral challenge, less than 1% is truly allergic. We compared the frequency of documentation of PCN allergy and the trends in further clinical evaluation as part of a quality improvement project in the Allergy-immunology(AI), Internal medicine(IM) and Pediatric(Peds) clinics at our institution.
