Spatial differentiation of marine eutrophication damage indicators based on species density

•We introduce an ecosystem response indicator to nitrogen loadings to coastal waters.•It models the oxygen depletion potential and the effects of hypoxia on biota.•Damage to ecosystems indicator is further modelled based on species density.•Both response and damage indicators are spatially explicit at an LME scale.•Applicable to model endpoint impacts and damage to marine eutrophication in LCIA.
