Partial nephrectomy vs. radical nephrectomy for renal tumors: A meta-analysis of renal function and cardiovascular outcomes

•A pooled analysis of the comparative effectiveness of PN and RN using hazard ratios on renal function and cardiovascular outcomes was performed.•The meta-analysis revealed that PN can lower the risk of postoperative new-onset chronic kidney disease.•However, the protection of renal function by PN did not reduce the risk of cardiovascular outcomes.
