Construction of a mixed-valence Mn16 cluster with four tetrahedrons

The synthesis, crystal structure, and magnetochemical properties of a mixed-valence Mn16 cluster are reported. The compound contains a Mn16(μ2-O)2(μ3-O)2(μ4-O)6 core, which is constructed from four tetrahedrons. Magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate the presence of dominant antiferromagnetic exchange interaction within the compound.
