Performance study of solid dichlorobis(3,5-dimethylpyrazole)copper(II) as colouring material for poly(vinyl chloride)

The solid green compound dichlorobis(3,5-dimethylpyrazole)copper(II), which has a polymeric octahedral coordination, has been prepared in nonaqueous solution. Information on the stereochemistry of this compound was obtained from reflectance spectroscopy. The magnetic moment of the compound was also measured. The unit cell parameters for the complex were calculated from accurate X-ray powder diffraction data. The initial temperature of decomposition of the compound was determined from thermogravimetric studies. The suitability of the compound as a pigment for poly(vinyl chloride) was investigated by studying weathering, lightfastness, migration resistance, dispersibility, chemical resistance, and heat resistance.
