Abstract
A novel double-sided array antenna for Long Term Evolution (LTE) and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is presented in this paper covering the frequency 2.6 GHz and 5.8 GHz. 4×2 radiating elements are used to construct the array which contains at the both side of FR-4 substrate. Mitered quarter wavelength transmission line has been developed to build up the array. It is realized that, the formed array at the upper side of substrate is capable to excite at 5.8 GHz while at the reverse side of substrate can excite at 2.6 GHz. A 3 mm air gap which separates the substrate and copper ground plan provides proper directional property at both frequencies. The proposed antenna achieved excellent performance in terms of gain recorded 10.08 dBi at 2.6 GHz and 12.89 dBi at 5.8 GHz respectively. Acceptable reflection coefficient is acquired at operated frequency. However, reflection coefficient at 2.6 GHz reaches −17.578 dB while −12.359 dB reaches at 5.8 GHz. The simulation is performed using CST Microwave Studio.
