•An unsymmetrical tetrazine DAHBTz was synthesized and characterized by XRD.•The Cp,m of DAHBTz was determined by calorimeter and theoretical calculation.•The Cp,m of DAHBTz was 345.68J·K−1·mol−1 at T=298.15K.
