Abstract
The results of testing the scintillation and radiation characteristics of thin molded plates and new heavy scintillators based on polystyrene with organometallic additives are presented. The radiation hardness of 1.1-mm-thick cast scintillation plates containing 2% pTP + 0.05% POPOP is 2 Mrad. The possibilities for development of these scintillator-based, radiation-hard, heterogeneous, electromagnetic calorimeters with an energy resolution of sigma/E similar or equal to (4-5%)/root E are discussed.
