Abstract
Purpose: To evaluate the impact of nutritional status at the completion phase of comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation (CCR) upon the incidence of future cardiovascular events (CVE). Methods: We investigated 311 consecutive patients who participated in CCR for >3 months. Nutritional status was estimated by the geriatric nutrition risk index (GNRI), which was calculated as follows: 14.89 × serum albumin level(g/dl)+41.7 × body mass index/22. All patients underwent cardiopulmonary exercise test at the completion of CCR, and divided in two groups: normal fitness, peak oxygen consumption (PVO2) > 16 ml/kg/min; and poor fitness, PVO2 <16. We compared incidence of CVE between those with high GNRI and low GNRI within each group. Results: Figures. Conclusion: Among poor fitness, GNRI at the completion of CCR may be a risk factor of the future CVE.
