Abstract
HIGHLIGHTS The fourth ASCO Quality Care Symposium (QCS) is the focus of the current issue of Journal of Oncology Practice. QCS, which was held in Phoenix, AZ, from February 26 to 27, 2016, attracted nearly 700 participants and more than 300 abstract submissions. As in previous years, QCS had both general and breakout sessions, including 20 oral abstract presentations and narrated poster walks. QCS drew a diverse audience of community-based and academic clinicians, health services researchers, and a large representation from those who focus on the operational and administrative aspects of cancer quality improvement. Highlighted at QCS were four key elements required for the improvement of cancer care: thoughtful project selection and design, attention to human factors and the context in which a project is planned, thoughtful use of informatics and technology, andengagementof thepatient in all aspects of quality improvement projects, from design to implementation.
