An Overview On Distribution Automation System

The concept of distribution automation system is put forward to improve power supply reliability and power quality to users. To begin with, four main functions of distribution automation system including monitoring function, control function, protection function and management function are introduced in this paper. Then, some key technologies applied to achieve those functions are analyzed. Finally, the key challenges and development tendencies of distribution automation system are discussed which refer the smart distribution grid and the micro grid as the two main development tendencies. Distribution automation system is the inexorable result of the development of distribution grid, and it will become even more important in the future to provide users with better quality power.
