Polarized luminescence and nanosecond dynamics of macromolecules under pulsed and steady-state excitation conditions
POLYMER SCIENCE SERIES A(2000)
Abstract
Polarized luminescence excited by a pulsed synchrotron radiation source (Daresbury, UK) was used to measure nanosecond relaxation times characterizing the intramolecular mobility of PMMA macromolecules with luminescent anthracene-containing labels. The studied part of a macromolecule was selected by a luminescent label located at the end of the side or main chain or in the middle of the main chain, The relaxation times tau of PMMA are determined in a series of solvents with various viscosities. The tau values obtained by the polarized luminescence methods are compared for pulsed and continuous excitation of emission.
