The design of a hadron calorimeter where the sampling gradually changes in depth is described, and the results of its test are presented. Wedge-shaped scintillator and absorber plates are positioned in parallel to the incident particle direction along the cylinder radius. The calorimeter has a cylindrical geometry and is intended to work in colliders. Characteristics of the calorimeter unit were measured at different tilt angles in two configurations: only the hadron calorimeter is present and an electromagnetic calorimeter is placed in front of it.
