Dynamic response of a full-scale reinforced concrete building frame retrofitted with FRP column jackets

•Non-ductile RC buildings often demonstrate structural vulnerability to seismic loading.•A full-scale non-ductile RC frame was retrofitted with an FRP column jacketing system.•Shaker testing was performed for as-built and retrofitted test frames.•The installation of the FRP jacketing system reduced story drift and column rotations.•The retrofit scheme can mitigate the soft-story mechanism in RC frame structures.
