摘要
Associating metagenomic and metabarcoding approaches that describe microbial community structures to functional approaches (metatranscriptomics, metaproteomics, metabolomics, etc.) improves our understanding of how microbial ecosystems work, especially because they enable us to take into account organisms that resist isolation and culture under laboratory conditions. In fact, these culture-recalcitrant organisms may account for most of the microbial community whose functions are essential to the sustainability of our environment and its associated ecosystemic services. Thus, by integrating several organizational levels of specific and functional biodiversity (molecules, genes, populations, communities, etc.), environmental genomics stirs up a synergy between biologists, geochemists and bio-computing scientists, which fosters a better understanding of the relations between biodiversity and functions within a trophic network, in relation with biotic and abiotic factors of the environment.
