摘要
The paper presents the application of the IADP (Identification of Active Damage Processes) acoustic emission method to continuous monitoring of active destructive processes that occur in reinforced concrete bridges under service loads. Monitoring results provide the basis for the assessment of the facility condition and for automatic control of load (traffic) to ensure safe operation of the structure. Acoustic emission AE signals, recorded when the bridge is under service load, are subjected to multi-parameter analysis and grouped into classes corresponding to specific destructive processes. Different degrees of hazard to the structure, ranging from safe operation to reliability loss, were ascribed to the occurrence of individual classes. Appropriate control of the traffic on the bridge (permissible speed and weight of vehicles) enables the facility to remain in service and in the safe operating range. The method was experimentally used for monitoring of the overpass that was earmarked for demolition. The facility service life was prolonged by six years, which allowed making alternative traffic arrangements and collecting funds for the construction of a new overpass.
